APRILTHEME by victorinemusic
Ever created something only to find out that you didn't really create it?
That it was just floating around your subconscious as a distorted form of something you hear or saw somewhere else? When does something you heard or saw change from being an "Influence" on your work to being plagiarism?
We have to laugh when this happens... And I'm pretty sure that's what happened when I finished this track.... then I remembered that I had heard a melody line a little too similar to this guitar line in a movie....that movie was Moneyball.
And this is the track that i think my subconscious ripped off with out telling me:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005MVJAJO/ref=dm_mu_dp_trk23
For this track I just laid down a bunch of layers of "G" on synth/pads, and a reversing piano hit that I time-stretched and copied/pasted/cross-faded for the duration of the song. Tracked acoustic with my Taylor, and it was a little too noisy..I did not spend a lot of time mixing this track down. The pianos are from Reason Pianos.
Thanks for listening.

Jeremy Lin
Not so long ago, I was asked to write some music for a song about Jeremy Lin.
Here it is.
I found most of my influence for this tune from The Roots.
Drums done in BFD, keys, bass and other sounds done in Reason.
Real guitars tracked in Protools with my Top Hat Club Royale and Self made Warmoth Telecaster
Mixed in Protools
I had a lot of fun creating this one.
Thanks for listening

It could be dollars or pennies.
It could be seconds or it could be years.

CHASER
CHASER by victorinemusic
This song was pretty much created to have fun with BFD. I had a totally different guitar sequence in mind, but once I had a reason drum track set up as a click, the whole feel of this tune seemed to change, and here we are.
Verse/quiet drums done in Reason
Big drums done in BFD
Piano from Reason
Guitars tracked through my Top Hat Club Royale
Thanks for Listening

March Update
11 songs in, and writing everyday. Recording ideas is where things start to slow down, which is why everything that I write is not posted, I just keep running out of time to record it, which leads to gaps in the weeks as reflected below.
It's one thing to put time into writing, and then it's a whole other thing when it comes to recording and polishing an idea there seems to be no limit on how much time one can put into a song before walking away from it. So, as life balances back out, there will be more time for recording some of these good ideas.
Thanks for listening. New music coming soon.

GETTING TO CREATIVITY: HOW DO WE CREATE?
I used to think creativity was a magic event that could take place when certain stars aligned, and often sat around waiting for this "Moment" that never came. But the truth is creativity has to be pursued, just like any thing else we want out of life. And there are people out there who are consistently creative, some who's very job depends on it week in and week out.
So what happens when you're not feeling the magic? You could be waiting forever. Why wait when there are proven steps to getting creativity flowing again?

The Triumph
THE TRIUMPH by victorinemusic
“Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying.
Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day.
Do it! I say.
Whatever you want to do, do it now!
There are only so many tomorrows.”

Great Statements by Foo Fighters and Bon Iver at Grammy's Last Night
If you missed the Grammys last night, you didn't miss a whole lot. But worth noting is Foo Fighters (4 Grammy's) and Bon Iver's (2 Grammy's) wins.
In case you didn't know Foo Fighters recorded their latest record completely analog in Dave's garage with producer Butch Vig. IMHO it's an amazing rock record. Dave Grohl took the opportunity to reiterate that great music comes from the heart and mind, from the "human element" not from being perfect. Check it out:
Foo Fighters mash-up performance at the end of the night with Deadmau5 was horrible, but their earlier performance of "Walk" was really good. You can watch it below:

Do you know how to get your music on Spotify?
Just in case you thought it was impossible to get your tunes on Spotify, it's not.
You can get your tunes on Spotify, even as an un-signed artist very similar to how you
would get music on itunes, through an "Artist aggregator."
Spotify shows you here:
